Know what everyone means, and what to say next.
Undertone listens along to your calls. It explains code names and acronyms the moment they come up, brings up the facts when you're asked, and afterwards hands you the recap, your tasks and a briefing for the next call. All from your team's own Slack, Notion and Jira, transcribed on your Mac.
Free during the beta · macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon
Three steps, while it's still being said
Undertone transcribes the call on your Mac, picks out the names you probably don't know, and explains them from your own team's tools.
- Step 1The call is transcribed on your Mac
- Step 2Undertone spots what you might not know
- Step 3A hint explains it from your sources

Not the internet's answer. Your team's.
Generic assistants guess from the internet. Undertone reads where your team writes things down, and only tells you what you probably don't know yet.
“Halyard: a rope used to raise a sail.”
Correct, and no help in your meeting.
“Halyard: your release pipeline, owned by Platform. The rollout plan is in RFC-88.”
Built for your first 90 days on a team, managers who sit in on many teams, and consultants who switch clients every week.
Sample. Halyard, Platform and RFC-88 are made up.
How it works
One loop, running quietly beside every call.
Listens in the background
Starts on its own when a call begins in Zoom, Teams, Meet, Slack or your browser, even when you're only listening, and transcribes it on your Mac. Audio is never uploaded.
Looks things up in your tools
Read-only connections to your Slack channels, Notion workspace and Jira tickets, plus Linear, Confluence, Drive and more.
Whispers context in real time
Spots acronyms, code names and questions aimed at you, then shows a one-line explanation, or the facts you'll need when a question is aimed at you.
Try it on a sample meeting
Pick a meeting to see what Undertone would show you. In the app, Home › Try a sample meeting plays a made-up standup through the real panel before your first call.

After the call, it keeps working
Open Undertone like any Mac app and your week is waiting: what's next, what you owe, and what you heard but didn't know.
- Home
- Today's meetings from your Mac's Calendar, your open tasks, words to learn and how your answers went. A briefing arrives before each meeting.
- Tasks
- After each call, only your work: what you promised, what you were asked, and questions to follow up. Move them through to do, in progress, in review and done.
- Glossary
- Every term from every meeting with what it means at your company. Mark the ones you know in one click; More digs through your sources for the people and links behind it.
- Spaces
- Keep teams and clients apart. New meetings are filed for you, Undertone suggests a space for the rest, and every view filters to the space you pick.
- Answer coaching
- Your side of the call is transcribed too, so after a call you see what landed and what to tighten next time.
- Artifacts
- Status reports, slide decks and interactive canvases, written from your meetings and sources with gaps marked [TBD]. Export to Markdown or HTML.
- Ask
- Chat with one meeting or all of them, with files attached. Answers stream in, and what you tell it is remembered for next time.
- Ask mid-call
- A chat field under the live hints answers from the call so far, without leaving the meeting.
- People
- Everyone from your invites with their role and what they work on, your meetings together and what you owe them.
- Reminders
- “By Friday” becomes a date. A reminder lands at 9:00 the working day before, and overdue tasks turn red.
- Glossary guide
- Turn a team's glossary into a shareable guide for new joiners, ready to export as HTML or Markdown.
- Fix and translate
- Right-click a misheard word and Undertone corrects it and listens for it next time. Translate any passage into 19 languages.
Before the call, and after it
Fifteen minutes before a meeting, Undertone writes you a briefing and taps you on the shoulder five minutes out. When it ends, the follow-up for everyone is already drafted, ready to paste into email or Slack.

Context that's ready before you ask
Every hour, between calls, Undertone reads up on your open tasks and recent meetings across your connected sources and keeps a short, sourced brief. When you press start or ask for details, the answer begins from what it already knows instead of minutes of searching.

Answers in seconds
Undertone answers from what it already knows with a fast model, and only searches your tools when that isn't enough.
- Answer cards during a call draw on background briefs and your memory
- Briefs on the topics and people that keep coming up, matched to each question
- When sources disagree, the newest one wins
- A stalled reply hands over to the fast model instead of leaving you waiting
Answers you can paste
Ask leads with what you asked for. A draft comes as one message, ready to copy, with anything missing listed underneath.
- One recommended draft for Slack or email, with its own Copy button
- Missing links and anything unverified are listed under the draft, never inside it
- Select any text in the chat to copy or translate it; in the message box, replace it with the translation
- The first translation tells you which AI the text goes to

Work stays work
Undertone tells work meetings from personal ones. A webinar or a call on your personal calendar is explained from general knowledge, without touching your work tools.
- Mark each calendar Work or Personal; company accounts start as Work
- Personal meetings skip your work tools and memory, and their recaps stay out of amem
- Switch any meeting between Work and Personal from the hints panel
- Starts on its own for webinars you only listen to, and in more browsers like Comet, Vivaldi and Opera
- Says who a question was for: you, someone else by name, or the whole room
- A call that drops and comes back continues the same meeting instead of starting a new one
Calendars
Speaks your language
Undertone comes in 17 languages. It follows your Mac's language, and you can pick another in Settings.
- Hints, answers and recaps are written in your language; terms from the meeting stay as they were said
- Meetings held in any of 19 languages and dialects are transcribed on your Mac
- Choose which calendars to use, across all your Google, iCloud and Outlook accounts
- Right-to-left layout for Arabic
- Up next reads Google Calendar directly when it's connected, so renamed or cancelled meetings don't linger
Your meetings, inside Claude
Undertone is also an MCP server. Add it to Claude, Claude Code or Cursor in one click from Settings, and work with your meetings, tasks and glossary from there. Read-only, and it stays on your Mac.

Even better with amem
amem is a memory on your Mac that Undertone shares with Claude Code, Cursor and your other AI tools. Setup recommends it and installs it for you; a built-in memory is there if you'd rather not, and Settings can compare the two on your own data.
- What you worked on with Claude Code or Cursor is context in your next call
- Every meeting recap is there in your AI tools afterwards
- What you tell Undertone is remembered for good
npx @iamem/amem setup
Or let Undertone's setup install it. Needs Node.js. Stays on your Mac.
Private by design
No account and no bundled key. Your calls, keys and meetings stay with you; the only thing Undertone itself receives is an anonymous count you can switch off.
- Audio
- The call and your mic are transcribed on your Mac with Apple's SpeechAnalyzer. Never uploaded.
- Meetings
- Recaps, transcripts, tasks, the glossary and your artifacts are stored only on your Mac.
- Calendar
- Read to show what's next. Undertone never creates or changes events.
- AI
- Your own OpenAI, Gemini or Anthropic key, a local Ollama or LM Studio model, or your Cursor or Claude Code sign-in. Keys stay in your Keychain.
- Your tools
- Read-only. Undertone only searches and reads; tools that send, post, create or edit are never allowed.
Don't take our word for it
Undertone is closed source. What's public on GitHub is this site, our security notes, and the format of every file Undertone keeps on your Mac, so you can see exactly what it stores.
To check what leaves your Mac, watch Undertone's traffic with Little Snitch, LuLu or Proxyman during a call. You'll only see connections to the AI you chose, the tools you connected and, if you left it on, the weekly anonymous count. Your audio never leaves your Mac; only text goes to your AI.
